THREE CHEERS FOR PAP!
i must say im really delighted with the election results!
first up. there isnt any change to the number of places pap has in parliament. BUT im somewhat glad the votes in several SMCs and GRCs went down by a small percentage. no. i am not being sadistic. no ive not changed loyalties- im happy because this would probably serve as a wake up call to those MPs. if you ask me, i think they *are* quite affected by the sliding number of votes. it says quite a bit about their future grip on power. haha. wouldnt you take some precautions if you were the government? to me, its only natural.
oh and anyway, the media wouldnt portray a worried and anxious government, would it? *grins* who owns the media?
was watching the results show in anticipation. haha! i was really quite excited for pap, praying and hoping that george yeo and lee hsien loong wouldnt lose their seats. (although i was pretty sure the pm wouldnt anyway! like duh. so much for the "suicide squad" eh?) hahaha!
surely, it isnt easy being a foreign minister. i suppose george yeo's doing a relatively commendable job in keeping diplomatic ties with other countries at the moment. admittedly, i dont have much impressive knowledge to show that he IS doing a great job. BUT, as far as im concerned, i havent heard any big hoo-haas or any major dissatisfaction. in my opinion, as long as the tide is low and calm, i'll always be supportive of him. plus! hes quite a nice guy, really.
i believe a foreign minister holds a really important post. our country's reputation is in his hands. it concerns how the world will in turn treat us when we're in their land. in other words, hes kinda an ambassador for us.
as for lee hsien loong- im sure actions speak louder than words! i neednt say more about his contributions during the past decade.
oh man. (pause) something GREATER caught my attention.
today's Lifestyle. L5:
bard of course: if you have $7.3 million to spare, you can bid for this First Folio edition of Shakespeare's plays, which is one of the most important books in English literature, at Sotherby's in London in July. The bard's identity is still being hotly debated, four centuries after his death.
"Because Shakespeare lived so long ago, it's more difficult to prove definitively whether something is the case or something isnt the case," Leman said. "This is one reason it's so easy to come up with conspiracy theories".
hmm. shakespeare was a woman? bisexual? im sure chan would be really interested to find out. (: haha! that was why fun shakespeare was introduced as part of the module, constituting to 15% of the entire marks?!
what about Shakespeare's ability to transcend time? what IF, like they said, Shakespeare is not really shakespeare? what if he were Christopher Marlowe or Sir Francis Bacon? haha! that would be fun! he would then be, as the englishman suggested, a plagarist of his time!
hahahahaha! the article was so hilariously funny that i couldnt stop laughing while reading. it seemed so relevant to the module i took last semester. okay. purleaseee! what would chan say? she will most probably read this anyway!
who wants to spend $7.3 million on the first folio? i can read it from the footnotes of a $20 book! hahaha! like okay! for what?! crazy! do you know how many things i can buy with $7.3 million dollars?! haha! a dream car, a mansion, a grand piano, lotsa lotsa musical instruments. or better still, i could donate some money to the poor and deprived. why wouldl i want to spend it on a dead man who indirectly caused a fall in my CAP? i dont give a shit on how the man was canonised. hello!
the only thing i took away from my module last semester-
Shakespeare has the ability to transcend time,
Shakespeare can cross cultures and boundaries.
hmm. so maybe im not a true lover of shakespeare's works after all.
what else? hahaaha! thats all.

i could sue someone for using this photo without crediting its source. that is, in simple terms, photo plagarism. it is an infringment of copyright rules.
visit: www.iloveliz.blogspot.com
oh btw, this was one of the photos that i took during the rally yesterday. haha! you have the power people! power yeah!
hope the g.e goes well today- in favour of the pap that is. i think they have done a pretty good job over the years. no one is perfect, no form of government is perfect. but i must say im relatively impressed with them.
my take on supression:- admittedly, singapore is a very young nation. to be quite honest, i dont think we can afford to be all that liberal. like you know. you dont exactly get full autonomy when you are ten years old right. compared to great old dear britain or liberal, high tech new york, we are indeed very, very, i mean very young. i think we are already taking steps towards being more liberal, towards 'opening up'. i am quite happy with the progress! (: so viel glueck to pap today!
talk about my take on other issues another time...
no. im not suffering from the side effects of propaganda. im not bought and persuaded after going through two years of social studies education. i hated it. haha! rebecca can testify to that. but i suppose my perception has changed radically over the years. and now, im definitely satisfied with the progress of the nation, the ways of the government copes with SARS and the birdflu. i mean if you think about it. when birdflu stuck and became a world wide epidemic, there wasnt a single soul in singapore who was affected. yup! good job there!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now onto the topic of alter egos.
why do people have to adopt several alter egos? for those who are relatively sane, take a look at my tagboard. as the days pass, i thought viewership would drop. but hell no. there are MORE and MORE people who refuse to identify themselves now?!
they blame one another. they dont admit to the things they say.
c'mon. what is it lah?! im damn pissed and upset that my blog has turned into some virtual masked corner.
why? why? someone please tell me: why do people have to adopt alter egos?
are they expressing unhappiness about themselves? dont they feel comfortable with their own name? why? is this a sign of a society turning into a faceless world?

well you see, i decided to attend today's meeting, thinking that I could at least gain new perceptions, information, insights, whatever about the immersion programme. given the fact that im clueless to what it is about, who my host family is, yada yada, i thought the meeting could be a little more interesting and informative. but hell no! we spent 15 min waiting for the raeum (room) to be unlocked, 5 min settling down, 2 min signing a code-of-conduct form (like kids!) and 45 min doing nothing in the room. do the math yourself. imagine the precious minutes of my life being carried away on time's wing's chariot! and yah! the travelling time on the bus was not included in the one hour can! arghhh!
so that leaves me unsettled with
- so much admin stuff! man!
witch neumann could have recommended us some stuff to buy. like which calling cards offer the lowest rates. or told us more about the debit card system there (and not act so confused about the debit card system - does germany uses a 4 pin or 5 pin code?). or informed us about the train schedule and how the train system works?! or provided us with some tips and precautions? you know stuff along those lines?! like hello? be a little more responsive?
conclusion: she's better off being a witch than a coordinator. maybe shakespeare's company should consider hiring her for their macbeth plays.
argghh! now ive gotta get all these done by the end of next week, preferably.
theres so much to settle. accomodation, the train tickets, etc, etc. im basically clueless to how things work there. hahah! i hope STA will be able to do everything for me.
im not an admin person and i basically HATE to settle administrative stuff! details BORE the crap outta me. to the core. to the core. argh!
given my way, i'll put it off for as long as i can haha! but i know this bothers elizabeth. shes so up and going that i cant catch up with her. (ah hem. in the most singaporean way.. HOR elizabeth? *sniggers*) so haha till then, we shall see. im waiting patiently for our first quarrel to begin. so far, the tide is low. and im seriously thankful for that. by nature, im peace-loving.
really hope everything goes well during the trip. the last thing i want is to be angry with someone just because she doesnt see eye to eye with me?! thats ridiculous. i mean it'll totally affect the mood and it'll be mutually unbeneficial.
and the worst part is - i aint quarrelsome. whos to blame when i have a talkative and quarrelsome travel mate? biggg sighh. but like i said, i guess it beats travelling alone on the 12 hour flight.
hahaha! joking joking! nothing is more valuable than your company, liz.
ok. and then. moving on.
dont roll your eyes. butttt!
Ive finally attended a Political Rally in Singapore!
haha! after twenty years of living, of being bred in this familiar land, of upbringing on the sunny island, i have taken an interest in the political affairs of Singapore. it was really interesting i must say. i never knew Singaporeans were *that* responsive to the opposition party. it was nice to stand among a huge crowd- of mainly uncles and aunties and a few groups of nyjc, hcjc students who decide to also render their support and/or kpo about the workers party's rally. i felt small, under-aged and insignificant. my vote wouldnt have mattered.
though I was perspiring, i had fun listening to gossips of this couple near me. they seemed to dislike the workers party as well. they were kinda condemning wp's policies quite softly, though audibly. and there was this prying aunty who blatantly pried at liz and i half the time. mad idiot! i was really so damn disgusted! hello?! thought she might be an old lesbian until she held her husbands hand minutes later.
other than that... i learnt that
-low tia khiang's command of the chinese language is superb. i thought i could understand mandarin even though i cant speak fluently. but no. i was wrong. i couldnt catch half the things he was speaking about. other than little fragments here and there which dont really make sense to me.
-sylvia lim really knows how to use rhetoric to persuade the masses. i would be persuaded if i hadnt adopted a stand on who i'dl be supporting. not that it matters anyway.
then the issue of supression came to mind. i mean, according to liz, singaporeans aint that vocal when it comes to pap's political rallies and stuff like that. but today, the people in the stadium were rather loud, i must say. cheering, waving flags.
was just wondering whether rallies are the only occasions when the barrier of free speech is removed. haha! think about it.
haha! well well well. what a day. glad i went. (:

GOD IS GOOD! ALL THE TIME!
yay! im really glad cause my trip to europe has been confirmed! yahhooo on that! i'll be flying on the 5th June on SQ334 (i think). can you imagine how GOOD god is to me? first and foremost, i have the privilege of travelling on SQ. *ah hem* free of charge! thank you so much SIA. yeap! i am spared from those godforsaken uncomfortable airplanes seats for 14 hours. *sniggers* secondly, i'll be travelling with lizzie. okokok. its not as if its an extremely GOOD thing. but i guess it beats travelling alone. yea. you get my gist.
so ive LOTS of shopping to do this holiday. the shopaholic desire is set ablaze! i cant wait to buy lotsa stuff for myself! hahah! shopping, anyone? so. can you see how excited I am to see france, italy, german, belgium, switzerland, london FACE TO FACE? hahha! ich kann nicht warten.
i wonder how the actual immersion will be. i really hope it will be fun, fun and more fun! i hope i will come back with a whole bag of new german knowledge, insights on europe, stuff like that. i wanna be a little wiser with regard to how people from the different parts of the world go about their way of life. yeap! basically i wanna reap all the advantages travelling can offer.
oh dont remind me ive a meeting tomorrow. arggh. das ist langweilig. boring! (: ive to endure a 40 minute trip on the hot old 151 again. hahaha!
okay. moving on..
ive finally straightened my hair. haha! hmm. conclusion: im more satisfied now cause my hair doesnt look *as* out of shape. BUT! i think i look better with curls. maybe ive to get use to it. haha!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to lianne & the other taggers: decided to write it here instead.
umm i dont like enforcing rules on my blog. i believe in free speech. at the same time, doesnt free speech come with some responsibility?
reluctant tagger, anonymous and to a small extent, liz always say stuff which can sometimes be really insulting. dont you think?
and um lianne, i dont think i'll drop by the open house this week although i am really interested to. too busy though. have lotsa church stuff to settle. so i dont really have the time! sorry about that!
to reluctant tagger: yes. i may promote free speech and stuff like that. i dont practise deleting people's tag cause i dont promote censorship on my blog. but it doesnt mean you can say things wihtout taking people's feelings into consideration. i feel like youre infringing on people's privacy through your tags.
anonymous: youre striking again?!! and commenting on people's diction this time around? why do you sound so lame?!

our world is governed by technology.
is hiding behind computer screens all we can think about in this time and age?
look at my tagboard.
all i did was to advertise my blog on msn and here i am. presented with multiple taggers. people who refuse to be identified. it is as if to say they are nameless? perhaps, we are all nameless. yes, thats a possibility we cannot eliminate. perhaps, we have been long been interpolated into subjects in society especially with the rapid progress of modern technology today. perhaps. perhaps.
other than rebecca, val and angie who are probably the few sane people around, the rest of them are crazy!
liz: more often than not, her comments dont make sense. she is out to insult my blog and its contents. you know, if you dont like reading my blog, you dont have to return.
reluctant tagger: if you are SO reluctant, then DONT tag! who are you anyway? you seem to know every friend of mine. liz, angie. please do not go around saying hi to these people. i see it as a form of harrassment? if you want to know them, get through me. firstly, you NEED to identify yourself.
presence: your nick is really lame. are you some philosopher? if not, please do not attempt to lure me into philosophy. also. i am not a kid. why do i need balloons?! thats insulting, really.
anonymous: i am sure you have a name. c'mon!
all these people. goodness. i think they are insane.
i never knew such mad people existed in the virtual world. it is a wonder why other blogs do not seem to suffer from the same problem as mine.
now. anyway. if you wanna tag, please leave your name alright. its nice to know youre here. take care!

-DREADS!-
argh. im so mad bored. ive work tomorrow. 830am. work work work. i wouldnt agree to work if im not in dire straits. gimme the money! haha!
this is the extent to which a person will go to when she is desperate for moolah.
the early hours. rise and shine.
yes. i love immanuel kant. but as much as i admire him for his discipline to wake up at 530 am, as much as i like someone knocking at my door in the early morning to say "it's time", i HATE waking up at 7am.
i am not an early morning person. you get it?

with reference and regards to elizabeth's tag on how offended she is by my "in passing" comments-
HAPPY ZWANZIG BIRTHDAY ELIZABETH ZHOU AIHUI! herzlichen Glueckwunsch zum Geburtstag!
written in red- i know you'll always feel nostalgic when you think of red&theredwoman. note that its my attempt, in part, to remind you of our young shakespearean endeavours. i loved our little but hell-desperate attempts to decipher the course's essence while trying to condense Shakespeare for our time. lizzieeeezzzzz, youre such a genius! as always!

so dear elizabeth (who is also Woody's toy owner, Karina's best friend, Sidney Prescott's ardent supporter, the witches' enemy, the counterpart of Adam's Rib and Sparky's lover), know that such wishes are from the bottom of my heart. im sure you recognise that words are merely facades which can sometimes conceal your perception of reality from what reality really is. the media course has taught you much, undoubtedly. given how much you enjoy sitting for the exam and how much you enjoy the course's lectures, im sure you'll get my drift in no time. yes? (: you go girl! hahahahhaa! evil laughter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i spent $100 on clothes today. kill me, someone.
one white pants and one brown pants. buy two at a cheaper rate.
no more giordano, finally. but still
a victim of media messages and promotions. arggh!
on the flip side, my cupboard's now fuller, and im happier. (:
i wanna go to geylang to eat pig trotters. er, like now. now. only if someone's kind enough to go with me.
anyway, im so glad the exam's over. ive never felt so stress-free for a long time! imagine the scenarios when i entered the exam hall with an almost blank mind, only to realise that people around me were writing furiously, vigorously, as if they were *that* passionate in what they're saying. haha!
today, as i strolled along the streets of orchard road for the second time after friday, im revitalised! im filled with energy!.. once again!
